Is RegCheck information up to date?
RegCheck uses regularly refreshed live data feeds. In rare cases, any very recent changes (such as very new finance registrations or licensing updates) may not appear immediately.
Does RegCheck include accident history?
Where accident or damage indicators are recorded in official or trusted data sources, they will be identified. Not all damage events are reported in New Zealand databases.
Can RegCheck show odometer issues?
RegCheck includes recorded odometer readings from sources such as formal inspections and import records. The report highlights inconsistencies where detected, but no report can guarantee absolute accuracy of odometer readings.
Does RegCheck include a vehicle valuation?
For public enquiries, you can obtain a RedBook valuation certificate on the link provided or head to redbook.co.nz.
For business users, market valuation data based on RedBook pricing intelligence is available as an optional additional report component, and also as a separate product. Where included, values are a guide price reflecting current market conditions. Valuations shown include GST.
How fast do I receive my RegCheck?
Once payment is completed, RegCheck reports are typically generated within seconds and made available shortly after.
Each report is emailed to you, is downloadable online as a PDF and also printable from the screen for your records.
Each report is timestamped so check that any report is up to date if you are receiving one from a seller to support your buying decision process.
How accurate is RegCheck information?
RegCheck combines:
- Official New Zealand government and industry databases
- Trusted third-party data providers
- RedBook's own extensive vehicle information and expertise
Vehicle data depends on timely reporting from multiple sources.
While we use best efforts to provide correct information, we can't guarantee the accuracy of the information. For full terms and conditions, click here. We recommend using the RegCheck report alongside a physical vehicle inspection and you should seek independent advice where appropriate.
What if I find something I don't understand?
If you have further questions not covered in our FAQs, our support team is available to help answer questions, explain report results and clarify any alerts or data points.
Make sure to include a copy of the report and the information you would like clarity on.

Can incorrect information be corrected?
We don't hold or control the underlying data ourselves – RegCheck reports reflect information from official sources such as NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR). Where a correction is needed, we'll direct you to the right process:
- Vehicle details (e.g. make, model, VIN) can be corrected by submitting an Application to Change Motor Vehicle Details (MR16) to NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, with supporting evidence.
- PPSR security interests you believe are incorrect can be corrected by requesting a "change demand," asking the secured party to discharge or amend the registration.
Once a correction is made in the records of the relevant authority, it will be reflected in future RegCheck reports.
Why RegCheck and RedBook?
